A word from Rev. Gary Taylor……
ROCKS vs FORGIVENESS
One of the great scenes from the movie Forest Gump is when Forest and Jenny are taking a walk together. While walking they approached the old house where Jenny grew up. As Jenny looked at the house she became very angry, and upset because as a little girl her father abused and violated her in that house. Horrible memories came flooding back to her. Jenny ran toward the house picking up rocks and throwing as many as she could at it. This goes on for a while and Jenny fell to the ground from exhaustion. Forest sat down beside her, and said, “Sometimes, I guess there just aren’t enough rocks.”
Throwing rocks at your past won’t change it, or heal you from it. Forgiveness is a choice to release an offense or debt. To forgive is to release which means “to let go of.” Letting go is one of the first steps to overcoming a painful past. Forgiveness is what Jesus was trying to teach a group of Pharisees who were ready to throw rocks at a woman caught in sin. The question is often asked, how could I forgive such an offense? Here is how I answer that question. If Jesus could forgive Roman soldiers while they were nailing him to a cross, then we can forgive offenses committed against us.

Why can’t we just all get along? That sounds good on the surface, doesn’t it? But in reality, it is impossible. Why would I say that? Because Jesus said if you love Him the world will hate you. Scripture makes it clear that believing in and serving God causes division among men. Reading Revelation shows there will be conflict and a constant battle between good and evil to the end. The world’s solution is to do away with all religions and their rules, come together under one philosophy where all men respect each other, live in a man-made utopia, and have governance all can agree to. The problem is it will never happen. When man tries to lead man someone is in control and the others must follow. When those in control are not guided by God, but govern based on their personal ideas, greed, or desires, peace and harmony are just an illusion. As it has always been governance without God becomes some form of tyranny. Behind the scenes of this man-made effort is Satan, his demons and evil spirits constantly trying to destroy, manipulate, and control man, and negate any hint of decency or righteousness. Man without God is doomed to fail.
So what is our role in all of this? First, stay right with God yourself, and be willing to be the influence and salt God has planned for us to be. Secondly, we must be led by the Holy Spirit, not our passions. We must do the right things ourselves and trust God to work in this world to bring about His plan. Arguing, striving, worrying, and complaining will never bring the positive change God desires. Lastly, know in the end we win. Every promise, every prophecy, and every plan of God will be realized and fulfilled. Let’s keep our hearts tuned in to God, realize all the chaos we see is a part of the last days, and have the assurance we can place our trust, hope, and service into His hands. He will bring it to pass.
John 15:18 “If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.
1 John 3:13 Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people.

Have you been in a café or restaurant and your coffee cup gets empty, the waitress has vanished, and you are stretching your neck trying to find her or get her attention for more? I have, although I must say at my current hangout, The Ramer Café, not so much. It is nice when you are talking to people around the table, enjoying your meal, and she keeps topping off that coffee keeping it full and hot.
Did you know the Lord does the same thing for us, but with the Holy Spirit? As we are ministering to others, and fellowshipping around the table He keeps us freshly filled with the Holy Spirit. The Lord keeps us full of His Spirit and on fire hot for the Lord. You will never have to worry about your cup becoming empty, because as long as you want a fresh experience with the Lord He is right there ready to fill you up.
Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not quench the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
