“We are so thankful for our loyal fans who visit and vote for us,” said Brad Thomas, president of the Silver Dollar City Company. “Our guests could travel to other states and other parks but choose to spend their family time making memories with us here in the Ozarks. See MoreSee Less

50% of U.S. adults are unable to read an eighth-grade-level book. 33% of U.S. high school graduates never read a book after high school. 80% of U.S. families have not purchased a book this year. 50% of books started are never read to completion. (Literacy Inc) Yes, reading is decreasing year after year. This is due to many reasons including a more visual society enjoying movies, videos, and whatever they can watch on a screen. That’s also why our younger generations have deemphasized spelling, grammar, and in many cases what was considered “common” knowledge. Many do not have the discipline, patience, desire, or reading ability to read a book. Reading is important.

While that is a problem, the problem of not reading God’s Word is greater. Since many today are not reading very much, Biblical literacy has also declined. In its 2022 State Of The Bible, the American Bible Society reported the largest decline in “Bible users” among American adults that the study has ever recorded—a 10 percent drop, from 49 to 39 percent. Many today, even those who call themselves Christian, can’t name the four gospels, half of Jesus’s disciples, or know the Ten Commandments. Many don’t know basic Bible stories such as Noah and the Ark, Moses crossing the Red Sea, Daniel in the Lion’s Den, or even the story of the death and resurrection of Jesus. No wonder our country continues its moral decline. Reading the Bible is important. Let’s set the example by reading the Bible ourselves, and doing whatever we can to promote God’s Word.

2 Timothy 2:15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

Romans 15:4 For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Congratulations to the Gospel Music Association.Image attachmentImage attachment+7Image attachment

I hear pretty much every day how bad it is getting here in America, and how we are moving away from God and freedom. This is true, however, anyone with a cursory knowledge of eschatology knows in the last days things will get worse and worse. So much so, at some point, the world will want the antichrist to come and save the day. Even with revivals or a new great awakening this world is headed towards the Great Tribulation.

Yet, we as Christians need to understand that the darker it gets the brighter our light will shine. Today’s world needs faithful, committed Christians to live and share the gospel. Yes, this will also mean persecution and a willingness to suffer for the cause of Christ. We have become pretty comfortable in our little worlds focused on our personal needs and comfort, but all the while on average 166,308 die every day, most without Jesus. Things will get worse, the end will come, and one day our Lord will return, usher in the Millennial Reign of Christ, and eventually a new heaven and a new earth. The question remains, how many will we win to Christ as we occupy until He returns? As it gets darker, shine all the brighter and let this world see Jesus in you.

2 Timothy 3:1-17 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. …

2 Peter 3:3-4 Knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.”

Matthew 24:36-44 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.
Matthew 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
